Rain All Day!

I am suffering from the non~motivational blues. The weather is perfect for a day of nothingness. Okay, maybe more like a day of blog diving, book devouring, magazine browsing all with a bowl of sweet and salty munchies to keep me content.

Parada Creations has offered up just the perfect collection of prints to lift any mood on this rainy day. Susana also has a blog to keep up with her inspirations and new creations.

Atlanta Trip

Sweet little French girl mannequin. She reminds me of my Mommy.
I desperately want her.
I'm a sucker for burlap.
More burlap and stamped! Double awesome!
Hello colors.  I need these circle cups for a festive Fourth of July gathering.
Bloody Mary with salted rim and cute boy across the table? If you insist.
After antiquing I needed to refuel with mussels and freshly baked olive oil drizzled bread.
The W Hotel

We visited with friends and family, ate delish foods, browsed through beautiful boutiques, had many laughs and were beyond delighted to be able to leave town knowing our fur~babies were being cared for by Miss Emily.

Spring Baking

It has been a VERY long time since this domestic diva has baked up some yummies. This ribbon cake stand could be just the motivation to get me fired up to turn out some delicious desserts. Change out the ribbon to match my mood and dessert? Yes, please!

Sorry I'm Late

What a week. Another St. Patty's Day has come and gone and I'm feeling as if I'm running late on many projects. I was hoping to post pictures of the madness that occurs downtown but unfortunately my camera battery died. So no pictures but rest assured, Savannah was a sea of green shirts and overflowing Guiness. I have also had an ignored bag of the most delicious fabrics and fake furs sitting in my craft room for a doll making extravaganza and I missed out on my picnic this week due to well....being tired. I haven't had the motivation or much time to post; hence the next title being 'Sorry I'm late'.

I am slightly obsessed with stop motion films. You will see them here at Scout's Bazaar fairly often. The playfulness, sweetness, and assumed simplicity combined are beyond enticing and magical to me. This short film comes from Thomas Mankovsky via Vimeo. Please watch and enjoy, and if time so exists for you also enjoy his award winning short film entitled Little Big Love.

I'm hoping for more creativity to seep into my life this coming week. Happy Sunday!

Luck of the Irish

The week of St. Patrick's Day is upon us. The tourists are setting out on road trips and boarding planes to enter our little Irish filled, green bannered, Guiness flowing town for parades and parties. The young and old will gather in squares for sun soaked, fun filled days.

Katherine has created a Luck of the Irish banner for your last minute decoration needs. Go to her shop NOW and buy it!

ATL Bound

We are setting out first thing Saturday morning to Atlanta to scour Scott's Antique Mall! I'm crazy excited because I have heard the most rave reviews of this market for years. It comes to Atlanta once a month and takes ample amount of time to hit the hot spots. Just point me to the French Shabby Chic section and I will be one happy girl.

Hot items to be found (all vintage): costume jewelry, buttons, trims, ribbons, party decorations, green mason jars...clothing....will there be clothing? My heart is a flutter with all of the excitement to be had.

I hope that all of my little readers find the time to enjoy themselves over this weekend and please visit Ashley Goldberg to view more of her adorable prints. Her work is pure Portlandesque and it kills me with cuteness.

Plates

Let me introduce you to Dot. My craftalicious and circus freak cousin Dia, shared with me this video a while back. She knows me oh so well. It was an instant swoon session that lasted for several days. I found myself being drawn back to the computer to admire this short film time and time again. I know that it has been adored by many, and at this time is not really blog worthy, but Dot is too kickass to be pushed to the back of the closet.

She comes from the the talented minds of Ed Patterson and Will Studd, combined together they are known as Sumo Science.
Oh so dreamy.

This brings us to plates. I believe I am fascinated with the colors. It is also a reminder of my want to start a china collection. One primarily consisting of old tea sets. I envision myself starting an afternoon tea that will include lavish layouts and ridiculously adorned hats, and that being my thing. We shall see.

Ellis Square

So my first outdoor picnic took place in Ellis Square. Ellis Square anchors City Market in Downtown Savannah with fountains and ample room for the kiddos to run free. Cedric and I stopped by Your Pie and I enjoyed a Thai Pie while soaking in the sunshine and watching the characters that surround City Market.

It was a success, but next week I'm going to go for a more secluded setting with a book and try to enjoy the scenery and sounds more than the people.

The Big Easy

Laissez les bon temps rouler. This phrase is quite prominent in the Big Easy. Translated it means "Let the good times roll". And roll they will. Happy Fat Tuesday!

The hand-drawn typography card is lovely for any celebration.

This postcard could be used as an ever reminding token that one day I must participate in this crazy, gluttonous behavior. I think that it would suit me just fine.

Etsy

It is a frightening act of opening your own online marketplace for all to browse through anonymously. I make kid stuff. I like the sweet prints and soft fabrics. Also, the thought provoking costumes that can be thrown together consisting of mismatched patterns and differing sizes; nothing making sense and yet coming together in a beautiful blend of childlike humor that resembles sun-filled days running through sprinklers. It's not that serious. It's about fun. Yes, it is that simple.

Nothing is perfect. If you want perfection then I propose you buy mass produced merchandise. It sounds like a fib but I only sew when I'm in an uplifted mood, with coffee to my right and loud music blasting through the speakers. When the mood strikes to be creative, a soothing sensation runs through me. Bills and everyday issues leave my realm of thought and joy enters.

At this time I only have a few items listed, but truth be told it is because I need a solid day to take quality photographs and upload them. So please visit me at my Etsy store and hopefully if you keep on checking in you will be transported back to your own childhood when not everything was disposable.

Beginning of the Bloom

There is nothing as beautiful as Savannah in the spring. Colors are starting to pop; the greens, and whites, and purples have stepped out from behind the curtain of winter drearies. In one month my world will be one giant flower field, with blooms bursting I plan on focusing on the beauty that lies ahead of me. Once a week I am taking the vow of a picnic in different parks and squares throughout the city documenting the loveliness that this quaint little city has to offer.

Oh! The Places You'll Go!

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself any direction you choose.
You’re on your own.
And you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go.

In keeping with the magical creativity that Dr. Seuss offers, please visit Australian based crafter Alex Le Juene for this adorable Dr. Seuss paper garland and other lovelies. To purchase the book click here.

Spring Forth

Spring is in the air. Change is here or at least she is poking her pretty little head around the corner. Flowers are blooming, the temperature is rising and the rebirth of Savannah is going to explode within the next few weeks. I figured what better time to start an online voyage of inspiration, thoughts, and desires. Perhaps, it could even be coined as a glorified to-do and to-buy list: a gathering of recipes to be cooked, crafts to be crafted, and travels to be planned. Documenting all of the little pretties that I find along my way. A hodge-podge of treasures for all to enjoy. Welcome to Scout's Bazaar.
